Step by step

Your daily AlchemCharts workflow

Step 1

Open AlchemCharts and log in

    Find the AlchemCharts icon on your desktop or in the Windows Start menu.
  2. 2
    Open AlchemCharts.
  3. 3
    Enter the email address used for your subscription.
  4. 4
    Enter your password.
  5. 5
    Click Log In.

Login screenUse the email address tied to your AlchemCharts subscription.
Common issueIf you cannot log in, make sure you are using the same email address you used when subscribing. If needed, reset your password or contact support.

Step 2

Open your Market Skills workspace

The Market Skills workspace is the charting layout designed for students using the Market Skills process.

    Open the workspace or layout menu.
  2. 2
    Choose the Market Skills workspace.
  3. 3
    Wait for the charts to load.
  4. 4
    If the workspace does not appear, contact support.

Enter a symbol

Use the symbol box to choose what you want to view.

    Click the symbol box.
  2. 2
    Type the symbol.
  3. 3
    Press Enter.
  4. 4
    Wait for the charts to load.
StocksEnter the stock symbol.
Index, options, futuresUse the symbol format provided by your Market Skills materials or support guide.
Symbol entry boxClick the symbol box, type the symbol, and press Enter.
ImportantSymbol formats can vary by data type. If you are unsure what to type for an index, option, or futures symbol, contact support.

Step 4

Review multiple timeframes

AlchemCharts is designed to help Market Skills students view the same symbol across the timeframes used in the program.

When you enter a symbol, the workspace can show that symbol across multiple chart windows so you do not have to set up each chart manually.

    Enter a symbol.

    Check that each chart window updates.
  3. 3
    Use the workspace layout to review the different timeframes.
  4. 4
    If one chart does not update, contact support.

Add notes and flags

Notes and flags help you remember what you saw on a chart.

    Open the chart or symbol you want to review.

    Find the notes or flag option.
  3. 3
    Add your note.
  4. 4
    Save the note.
  5. 5
    Return later to review your note.

Find earnings, splits, and company information

AlchemCharts includes earnings, split, and fundamental data used by Market Skills students.

    Open the symbol you want to review.
  2. 2
    Look for the earnings, split, or fundamentals area.
  3. 3
    Open the data panel.
  4. 4
    Review the available information.

Use clean chart views

Some AlchemCharts tools help simplify the chart view so you can focus on the chart layout used in the Market Skills workflow.

    Open the chart view.
  2. 2
    Find the clean view or Hide Noise option.
  3. 3
    Turn it on or off.
  4. 4
    Return to the normal view when needed.

Troubleshooting

What if my charts are blank?

Blank charts usually mean AlchemCharts is open, but something is preventing chart data from loading.

Common causes

  • Market data agreements are not complete.
  • Your account is not fully active.
  • Your internet connection is not working.
  • You entered the symbol incorrectly.
  • Your subscription is not active.
  • A firewall, antivirus program, or network setting may be blocking data.

Simple steps to try

    Check your internet connection.

    Try a common stock symbol.
  3. 3
    Log out and log back in.
  4. 4
    Confirm your subscription is active.
  5. 5
    Confirm your market data agreements are complete.
